I was wondering why returning tourists weren’t trying even in the slightest to avoid the water and just went through the stream. Just before the destination, I started to understand. You have to walk through a waterfall. The surprise at the end is called Cascada de Colores. Lines of waiting tourists sometimes form here, apparently – it’s the destination of the whole hike, so eeevery single person that gets this far wants to take a picture.

You may be glad to know that there are no animals living here that could be dangerous to people -no poisonous snakes orspiders or similar critters. Going off of the marked trails is forbidden!!! In these areas, it’s not technically even very feasible – the terrain is extremely steep. Popular survival expert Bear Grylls even filmed a special episode of his show –Man vs. Wild - here.

The city was founded in 1493 by governor Alonso Fernández de Lugo. It became an important port between the old continent and the Americas. From the very start of its existence, itfaced countless invasions by pirates and was graduallyproperly fortified. In the 16th century, it even became the third largest port in Europe! The first ever customs office for American affairs was also headquartered here. Anyone that wanted to do business with the New World had to register right here and pay a customs fee.
