TENERIFE

The island of Tenerife is a great medley of nature and culture. The historical and cultural crossroads between Europe, Africa and the Americas. Mountain ranges and steep cliffs that are several hundred meters high … pine forests andvalleys with tropical laurels …sunny beaches …historic cities and villages ....volcanic mountain landscapes, snowy peaks … people who know how to live – all of that is Tenerife–the Island of a Thousand Faces.

Yes, these people know how to live! The residents of Tenerife had sand brought straight from the African Sahara for an artificial beach called Playa de las Teresitas, close to the capitalso that it would not be far during their lunch breaks ... As I’ve mentioned … the people here simply know how to live!

The inaccessible Masca was the last place of resistanceby the native inhabitants against the Spanish conquerors. It remained isolated basically until 1970, when a road leading here was built.

To make waiting for the summer pass by more quickly, the residents created a pastime by organizing a carnival. It’s not just any old carnival – these carnivals are held throughout the archipelago, but the carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the second largest in the world, second only to the one in Rio!!! Each year’s carnival has its own theme, lasts a whole 21 days, and carnival participants take to the streets every day.
